Now, this is a complete first. All the planets were against it, the stars were even in an anti-junction. This is a completely unknown quantity.
Unless they go to visit my mother that is. In the guise of a nice grey-haired little old lady, whilst sipping tea from china cups in her pastel chintz-covered living room, any unfortunate visitor is subjected to a barrage of questions that the Gestapo would be hard pressed to come up with. I’m surprised she doesn’t ask for blood samples and mitochondrial DNA when she is making you take your shoes off at the front door.

I liked this post by Fussy, a blogroll pal of Ye-Yo’s you can read the original post , New Motto, here. It explored the idea of exactly why Sylvia Plath is the “only really successful mommypoet”. Plus it just gives me another excuse to talk some more about Sylvia Plath……….
I couldn’t begin to imagine it. Britain isn’t always the greatest, but I couldn’t even begin to imagine someone bursting into a lecture hall in the UK and gunning down students indiscriminately (the ceiling would be more likely to collapse on them, given the state of some of our unis…). Our gun laws are a little leaky and creaky, but at least we have them around to protect us. 30-something senseless deaths, and all because it is far too easy to pull a trigger.
The penguins have, it seems maybe, had their day. From the 700 or so people looking at One by One the Penguins are Stealing my Sanity, A Peculiarity of Penguins, and What is it With the Penguins, have slowed to a mere trickle…..strangest thing is, I still have no idea why they were looking at them in the first place……..
I had an interesting weekend……Went down to visit my beloved parents (and get moaned at, natch, along the ‘when are you going to get a proper job/house/life (replace as appropriate)). Managed to calm them down by reassuring them I now had a pension, which calmed them somewhat….and sent my father of on hours of tangents while I sat and drank his JD…
